Mersina and Dylan

I was looking through my computer today and found some pictures of my little girl and her best friend, Dylan. The first picture was taken in 2007, on their very first day of preschool. They were barely two! The second picture was taken last month. I can't believe how much they have grown! They are 4 1/2 now, and still best friends. It's amazing how fast time goes by. Sometimes I get sad looking at pictures of them when they were so little, but then I remember how thankful I am that they have each other! Love you guys!

A Very Lilly Bathroom

I recently gave Miss Priss' bathroom a "Lilly" makeover! It looks so adorable, I wish it was my bathroom! (I'm secretly a kid at heart!) We got the turtle wall decals from Lilly, which in my opinion, just make the bathroom! They were so super easy to put up, so easy I didn't even have to ask for my husbands help! (I'm a little challenged when it comes to hanging stuff). I had the Lilly shower curtain and trash can from when I was in high school and decided to pull it out. Making over her bathroom has made such a big difference, I can't help but be happy when I walk in there!

Vanilla-Fudge Marble Cake

To me, baking is a stress reliever. So since the past couple of days have been so stressful (my little man is super-sick), I decided to try a new recipe last night. It turned out great, so I wanted to share the recipe with everyone.

So here's what you need: 3/4 c. softened butter, 2 eggs, 2 3/4 c. flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla, 1 1/4 c. buttermilk, 2/3 c. chocolate flavored syrup (I used Nestle-Quik).

1. Let eggs and butter sit out until room temperature(about 30-45 min.). In a medium sized bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Put aside.

2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, beat butter for about 30 seconds until soft. Add in sugar and vanilla, and beat until light and fluffy. Add the eggs 1 at a time, beating mixture for one minute between. Alternately add flour and buttermilk, mixing on low speed until all ingredients are combined. Put aside 2 cups of batter. Pour remaining batter into a greased, floured bundt pan.

3. In a mixing bowl, mix the 2 c. batter with chocolate syrup until completely combined. Pour chocolate batter over vanilla batter, but do not mix.

4. Put in pre-heated oven and bake for about 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes, then flip over onto a plate. Let cool another 15 minutes.

5. After cake is cooled, you can drizzle with chocolate syrup or make your own chocolate syrup with the following recipe.

Chocolate Icing: In a saucepan, melt together 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces, 2 tbsp. butter, 1 tbsp. light corn syrup, and 1/4 tsp. vanilla over low heat. Stir constantly. When mixture is smooth, drizzle over cake.

ENJOY!

Pandamonium!

This year my husband was out of town at the Miami Boat Show on Valentines Day. Normally we don't really do Valentines gifts for each other, and I thought this year was no different. Well, on Valentine's he told me he had ordered something but it had not arrived yet. It arrived Friday! I was so thrilled to find the new Pandamonium shift dress by Lilly! Let me tell you, this dress is absolutely gorgeous in person! If you have been considering it, let me assure you that you will not be disappointed! Plus, it makes me feel good that part of this purchase went to the World Wildlife Fund! Thanks so much hubby!

Bees!

First of all, let me start by saying I am OBSSESSED with bees! If I come across anything with bees on it, I must have it! So I just wanted to give you a peek of some of the many bee things I have! So naturally, when I saw the bee ribbon at the top, I had to have it. The problem is, I don't know what to do with it! If anyone has a suggestion, I'm open to ideas!

Sock Bunnies!

Last night my daughter and I whipped up these adorable little sock bunnies! They were super easy to make, and most of the things you need to make them are already at your house. I saw this idea in a Family Fun magazine the last time at was at the pediatrician and knew I wanted to try it. We just adore Easter in our household, it's right on up there with Christmas! Not to mention I collect bunnies! So all you need to make these are an old sock, some uncooked rice or beans, a small piece of ribbon, and a rubber band. We also used googly eyes and some white felt for the teeth. Fill the sock up with rice or beans about up to around the heel. Tie that area off with a ribbon (this is the bunnies neck). Pour more rice in to make the head, then tie that off with a rubber band. The rest of the sock that is left, cut it into ear shapes (you really can't do it wrong.) You can decorate the face however you like, we hot-glued googly eyes on and small white felt pieces for the teeth. We then used a dot of black paint for the nose. I'm going to get a white pom-pom ball for the tail, but I haven't made it to the craft store yet. These are so cute and so so easy to make! My daughter had a blast making a sock Bunnie for her and her baby brother!
